Takeaway: Some days are made of wandering, window shopping, sweet treats, and tiny victories and somehow those become the days you remember most.
This is post 5 of 10.
🌺 A Morning in Hanalei
Hanalei has this way of pulling you in with its charm — the mountains draped in mist, the colorful shops, the laid‑back energy that feels like a warm hug. We headed over while housekeeping worked their magic, and it turned into the perfect slow‑paced adventure.
I browsed for a new coffee mug (a tradition at this point), but nothing spoke to me this year. Maybe that’s a sign to clear out my cabinet at home and make space for next year’s find. A little decluttering never hurt anyone.

🍧 Shave Ice Dreams at JoJo’s
Next up: JoJo’s Shave Ice, a must‑do on my Kauai list. I went for cherry — bright, sweet, refreshing — and immediately decided that next time I’m adding condensed milk because… why not elevate perfection.
There’s something about shave ice in Hawaii that just hits different. Maybe it’s the humidity. Maybe it’s the nostalgia. Maybe it’s the fact that it melts faster than you can eat it, forcing you to live in the moment.
📝 Productivity, But Make It Vacation
Somewhere between the shops and the shave ice, I finally tackled something I’d been procrastinating on forever: my summer show packet. Done. Finished. Completed. Why did I wait so long? No idea. But checking it off in paradise felt extra satisfying.
And while I was in the groove, I even worked on my leadership packet — something I’m genuinely excited to bring back to life. I’ve missed those lessons and those kids more than I realized.
🍕 Pizza Truck, Round Two
Back at the condo, the wood‑fired pizza truck called our names again. Yes, again. Yes, it was just as good. And yes, the pint of Lapperts waiting in the freezer made the perfect dessert. (And no, I did not eat the whole pint… but I thought about it.)
🌴 A Day That Felt Like a Deep Breath
Hanalei strolls. Cherry shave ice. A completed project. Pizza and ice cream. Ocean breezes and no schedule.
It wasn’t a big adventure day — but it was a beautiful one. The kind of day that reminds you that joy doesn’t always come from doing more. Sometimes it comes from doing just enough.
