Takeaway: Sometimes the most magical vacation moments aren’t the sunny ones — they’re the ones where you lean into the weather, embrace the unexpected, and find comfort in the rain.
This is post 6 of 10.
🌧 When Kauai Decides to Be Moody
Kauai is famous for its sunshine, but it’s also famous for its rain — the kind that rolls in without warning, soft and warm, like the island is giving everything a gentle rinse.
On this particular day, the wind was wild, the sky was gray, and the beach was definitely out. But instead of letting the weather win, we pivoted to something even better.

♨️ Hot Tub in the Rain: A Whole Mood
There is nothing — and I mean nothing — like sitting in a hot tub while it rains in Hawaii.
Warm water swirling around you. Cool raindrops landing on your shoulders. Palm trees swaying like they’re dancing to their own soundtrack. The sky misty and dramatic in the best way.
It’s cozy. It’s cinematic. It’s the kind of moment that makes you forget the rest of the world exists.
I found myself sinking deeper into the water, listening to the rain, feeling completely at peace. It was comforting in a way I didn’t expect — like nature’s version of a weighted blanket. And with rain comes rainbows!
📚 Rainy Day Reading
And because rainy days are made for books, I curled up afterward with another novel and let the hours drift by. There’s something indulgent about reading on vacation — no guilt, no rush, no “I should be doing something else.” Just pages and peace.
🍦 Ice Cream Still Happens
Even on rainy days, ice cream is non-negotiable. So yes, Lapperts made an appearance. And yes, it was mint chip. And yes, it was perfect.
🌴 The Beauty of Letting the Day Be What It Is
This wasn’t a beach day. It wasn’t a hiking day. It wasn’t a big adventure day.
It was a comfort day. A slow day. A “let the weather decide” day.
And honestly? It ended up being one of the most peaceful days of the trip.
Because sometimes the best memories come from the moments you didn’t plan — the ones you simply allow.
